Emanuel Newton headlines Bellator 130 with title defense

Emanuel Newton will put his Bellator light heayvweight title on the line when he faces Linton Vassell at Bellator 130 on Oct. 24 in Wichita, Kan.

Marloes Coenen will also make her Bellator debut when she squares off against Annalisa Bucci on the main card. Also, Bobby Lashley makes his return to the Bellator cage against Karl Etherington.

According to promotion officials, Vassell, not recent light-heavyweight tournament winner Liam McGeary, is getting the next title shot because McGeary “was banged up and needed some time off.” In addition to that, Newton’s contract called for a fight sooner rather than later, so McGeary is now scheduled to fight the winner of Newton vs. Vassell.

Check out the complete Bellator 130 fight card below.

Tim Kennedy, Yoel Romero full post-fight UFC 178 exchange

The UFC released on Wednesday full video of the exchange that took place between Yoel Romero and Tim Kennedy immediately following the controversial ending to their UFC 178 fight. Kennedy appeared to be on the verge of knocking Romero out in the closing moments of round two of the pair’s middleweight contest, however Romero survived to the horn, then was awarded almost a minute-and-a-half to recover between rounds due to a series of bizarre circumstances which UFC President Dana White called “the dirtiest trick in the book.” Kennedy subsequently lost the fight via third-round TKO.

Morning Report: Fighters react to Cung Le"s failed drug test

Hindsight is 20/20 but it looks like Brian Stann was ahead of the game back in August.

Stann tweeted a not-so-blind item following the main event between Michael Bisping and Cung Le at UFC Fight Night: Macau, referencing his belief that all was not Kosher with the former Strikeforce middleweight champion. Bisping stopped Le in the fourth round of a one-sided affair, apparently to the delight of Stann.
