Vitor Belfort was offered an interim title bout with Lyoto Machida when Chris Weidman pulled out from UFC 184 with a rib injury, but “The Phenom” turned down the fight. Fellow middleweight contender Ronaldo Souza is willing to step up and replace him against anyone if that’s what the UFC wants.
Souza is undefeated in the UFC with four wins in a row, capped off by a third-round submission over Gegard Mousasi. Jacare’s manager Gilbert Faria believes that an interim title has to be created after another injury from the middleweight champion, and Belfort should not choose who he wants to fight.

Rua was initially supposed to face Jimi Manuwa in the headliner, but Manuwa broke his foot a week before and OSP moved up from the co-main event to take his place.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — By now it’s pretty clear the promotional angles for UFC 182 differ greatly from those of most other major UFC pay-per-views.
The biggest culprit for that is the chain of events that took place in early August, when a scuffle between light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier tumbled off the stage in the MGM Grand, then continued in expletive-laden form as the two bickered across a live (but assumedly off-the-record) television signal for a majority of the afternoon.

The thirteenth episode of the UFC on FOX franchise is set for a Saturday. The card is headlined through a significant heavyweight battle between former winner Junior dos Santos and ever-soaring competition Stipe Miocic. The card, though, is full of other significant fights for combatants fighting to remain useful, those returning from layoff, or looking to earn a title shot.
Will JDS reaffirm his position as the very best heavyweight not named Cain or is Miocic set to replace him? I answer these inquiries and more with my forecasts for Saturday’s fights.
