A typical Thursday day immediately turned ominous for Chris Weidman, as the UFC’s middleweight champ found himself alone fighting against the clock to save the life span of an elderly neighbor who’d started bleeding profusely from several wounds beyond her house after tumbling by way of a glass table.
“I was likely to go pick up Stephen Thompson and his brother in the airport, LaGuardia, this morning,” Weidman described to MMAFighting.com. “I was likely to pick them up but their flight was late. So I had been looking to clean out my car and it turned out to be a torrential downpour this morning. Therefore I’m cleaning it out and all of a sudden I began hearing this sound — Ahhh! Ahhh! Ahhh! — Simply repeating. It was so loud, but with all the rain it had been difficult to determine where it had been coming from or what it actually was.

A bantamweight clash between Sergio Pettis and Matt Hobar has been scheduled for Dec. 6 at UFC 181. The Las Vegas Review-Journal first reported the bout.
Pettis (11-1), the 21-year-old younger brother of UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, looks to capture the third UFC win of his young career. Previously Pettis earned decisions over both Will Campuzano and Yaotzin Meza, but fell victim between them to a third-round rear-naked choke at the hands of Alex Cacares in UFC on FOX 10’s ‘Fight of the Night.’

Brazilian welterweight Dhiego Lima will make his return to the Octagon against Polish possibility Pawel Pawlak in the UFC Fight Night 56 card in Uberlandia, Brazil, on Nov. 8. The promotion formally declared the welterweight match up on Wednesday.
Lima (9-3), younger brother of Bellator 170-pound champ Douglas Lima, endured a first-round knockout loss in a middleweight fight against Eddie Gordon in the TUF 19 Finale occasion in July. In the reality show, Lima conquered Adam Stroup (unanimous decision) and Tim Williams (entry).
