UFC 181 Aftermath: "Callous" Robbie Lawler reaches uncommon atmosphere

UFC 181 in Tweets: Professionals score Robbie Lawler vs. Johny Hendricks 2, respond to Anthony Pettis bowing Gilbert Melendez

UFC 181 looked like among the year’s finest cards on paper, and while it mostly played out that manner, the night ended in controversy as Robbie Lawler edged outside Johny Hendricks to take a split decision and get the UFC welterweight title in a rematch of March’s ‘Fight of the Year’ nominee. Judge Glenn Trowbridge’s weird 49-46 scorecard ended up being the difference machine, and though a 48-47 score for either combatant would’ve more than defensible, the end result made in bitter taste in the mouths of some UFC fighters.

Check out reaction to UFC 181 as the experts chime in to offer their scorecards, opinion on Anthony Pettis’ amazing title shield, plus considerably more for Saturday night’s occasion.

UFC 178 bonuses: Conor McGregor claims third post-fight bonus in four fights

Whatever anyone else thinks of him, they should regard him as $50,000 more affluent after Saturday night at UFC 178. UFC featherweight Conor McGregor claimed the post-fight Operation of the Nighttime bonus with his first-round stoppage of Dustin Poirier.

McGregor, 26, went back and forth with Poirier, 25, early, but finally landed a punch that after replay seemed to be behind and over the ear, yet still within legal land. The strike dropped Poirier face first to the mat, which enabled the Irish combatant to instantly pounce, throw several additional punches and take the win. The ending arrived at 1:46 of the first round. McGregor improves to 16-2 while Poirier drops to 16-4.
