Roxanne Modafferi will now face Andrea Lee at Invicta FC 10

Roxanne Modafferi won’t face Vanessa Porto after all at Invicta FC 10 after Porto had an “unforseen delay in visa processing,” according to a Invicta press release Thursday.

Modafferi (16-11) will now face Andrea Lee (2-0) at the event at the Arena Theatre in Houston. Lee won her Invicta debut with a unanimous decision victory over Shannon Sinn at Invicta FC 9 earlier this month.

Modafferi recently snapped a six-fight skid with a unanimous decision win over Tara LaRosa at Invicta FC 8 on Sept. 8.

Michele Waterson will defend her atomweight title against Herica Tiburcio in the Invicta FC 10 main event.

What can Cung Le expect from the new UFC appeals process?

When UFC middleweight Cung Le was given a year-long suspension for a positive HGH test taken following his August 2014 bout with Michael Bisping in Macau, China, he had no choice but to accept it. Unlike the United States or other select territories where mixed martial arts (MMA) is regulated by some sort of athletic commission, China currently has no regulatory oversight. When the UFC holds events in this territory and others like it, they are forced to self-regulate. That practice is earnest, but also nascent and, as Le’s predicament illustrates, incomplete.

Whereas fighters have the opportunity to seek out an appeals process in areas with established commissions, those avenues do not exist in unregulated territory. That is, until now.

Morning Report: Cung Le happy to appeal drug test result after "taking a pounding and getting called a cheater"

With news that the UFC will give him the chance to appeal his one-year suspension after testing positive for excess levels of Human Growth Hormone (HGH), middleweight Cung Le maintains the result was due to flawed testing methods.

“I’m glad I’m able to appeal and am very confident,” Le told Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times. “The facts are out there. If the right test had been done, this would have never happened.”

UFC 178 wages: Conor McGregor cashes in with rapid triumph over Dustin Poirier

If time is money, then Conor McGregor did pretty well for himself at UFC 178. The Irish featherweight ace brought in a little over $1,415 per second in purse winnings alone in only his fourth UFC fight, cashing in a $150,000 check for his sub two-minute triumph over Dustin Poirier on the night’s pay per view card, according to information released to MMAFighting.com by the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Throughout weeks of pre-fight hype, McGregor called he’d knock out Poirier inside the initial round, and finally he did just that, earning himself an added Performance of the Nighttime bonus in the procedure which brought his disclosed gains to $200,000. Poirier took home $34,000 in the losing effort.
