Luke Rockhold: "Not a opportunity" Jon Jones ever defeats Cain Velasquez

it is been years since Jon Jones first teased an ultimate move up to heavyweight. With his lanky 6-foot-4 body and UFC-greatest 84.5-inch reach, the reigning light heavyweight champion and No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the sport has consistently considered he had be competitive in MMA’s hardest-striking department.

But now, using the UFC’s 205-pound weight class, at most, two or three fights away from being cleared out, Jones has started plotting out a path for his future which includes possible superfights against heavyweight’s elite. So that begs a interesting question: could Jones stack up nicely against heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez in the event the two met in a hit fight next year?

UFC 180 results: Fabricio Werdum stops Mark Hunt in the second to become interim UFC heavyweight champion

In the main event of UFC 180 to determine in the interim UFC heavyweight champion in Mexico City, Mexico, it was the Spanish-speaking Brazilian Fabricio Werdum who would walk away with the gold. He stopped Mark Hunt in the second round via TKO.

The two fighters opened cautiously, but a wide right hand cracked Werdum and dropped him. Wanting nothing to do with his ground game, Hunt let him up. Werdum reached for the low single, but could get nothing. A punch hurts Werdum and Hunt uses an underhook to throw Werdum to the mat, but now Werdum has him locked him in his guard.

Wanderlei Silva calls Cain Velasquez"s knee surgery a "favorably timed injury"

In it, Silva discussed the struggles Werdum has undergone to reach this point in his career, but also, somewhat strangely, took a thinly veiled shot at Cain Velasquez for the “favorably timed injury” that resulted in the champ’s withdrawal from the UFC’s first event in Mexico.
