Will Brooks: I believe I will overcome any lightweight in Bellator, UFC or WSOF

Bellator lightweight champion Will Brooks has not seen his family since last Thanksgiving. Obviously, back then, he was not Bellator lightweight winner. A lot has changed for the burgeoning ability and as he heads home for christmas as the corporation ‘s undisputed lightweight champ, he recognizes this previous year continues to be one long, odd, but executing journey.

“it is insane. Brooks did not actually think of it like that, but yeah, it is accurate. It is been a tremendous reversal of occasions for me personally in this previous year,” Brooks told Ariel Helwani on Monday’s The MMA Hour. “Brooks believe I must credit that to being patient, being willing to give that time with being my family in Illinois and making your decision to move out here to Florida and train at American Top Team. I have made plenty of sacrifices this previous year, year along with a half. It is worthwhile. It actually brought me to where I’m now. I am happy I made the choices I made.”

Garry Tonon, jiu-jitsu"s consummate risk taker, prepares for Zak Maxwell

Metamoris’ existence is predicated on a number of things, not least of which is that submission-only competition can offer a truer (or at least alternative) glimpse into the talents of practitioners, something the points system obscures. That’s not necessarily true in all cases for all competitors, but it’s true enough that having a superfight series in a submission-only format fills the gap left by the points-based tournaments.

Whether true or not, that argument has little bearing on how Tom DeBlass black belt Garry Tonon competes. In a sport allegedly filled with those who embrace risk aversion as a means to winning, Tonon has patented a style that eschews that approach completely. As a result, he’s developed a fan following, too.

Warlley Alves learned "new tricks" with Anderson Silva for UFC Fight Night 56

UBERLANDIA, Brazil — Undefeated Warlley Alves returns to his first weight class in a welterweight fight against Alan Jouban at UFC Fight Night 56 in Uberlandia, Brazil, on Nov. 8, but do not call the X Gym gift a prospect.

“I do not view myself as a prospect. Many combatants began as prospects and not become anything, therefore I work to become reality,” Alves told the media in Brazil. “I am focused on fighting and doing what I consider, one step at a time. Everything that occurred (at TUF Brazil) was excellent, but it is before. It is a fresh challenge within my profession now. I am 23 years old, I am still young.”

Royce Gracie: Nick and Nate Diaz"s fights "are what this sport should be"

SAN DIEGO – LeBron James is an amazing gift, however he did not devise basketball. Similarly with Tom Brady in football and Sidney Crosby in ice hockey.

Royce Gracie, nevertheless, has a prominence in his sport that few sportsmen will ever experience in their own lives. Not only was Gracie his selected field’s biggest opponent during his prime, but his prime really help create the sport which grown in his wake.

UFC 179 fight card: What Is at stake?

Conor McGregor is apparently getting an outrageous level of glow in the lead-up to the occasion, however this can be actually about featherweight champ Jose Aldo. He could be the last remaining Brazilian winner. I’d never go as far as proposing the market falls because state without him, but I’d underscore it could be more problematic than some understand. Every state enjoys and must find their countrymen do nicely, but Brazil appears to put additional emphasis on it (I do not understand if that is reasonable, but that is my read from afar). Keeping the title may be crucial to UFC’s attempts to nurture what’s among their top three markets.

None of this can be to undercut the realities in the floor. There are enormous swathes of ability across all weight classes there. The TV handle Globo is a godsend. But having winners – main combatants – is very important to a nation that turned around on MMA at a time when numerous Brazilians were enormous stars or belt holders and will lead a fresh upsurge in interest.

It is OK not to adore Jose Aldo"s fashion of fighting

I do not adore the manner Jose Aldo fights. I definitely do not dislike Aldo or his style of fighting, but it is not close to being anywhere near my favorite. I am aware that is sharp and upfront, but it is worth getting right to the stage.

It Is also worth recognizing Aldo is an amazing gift. He is incontestably the top featherweight ever, even if he loses to Chad Mendes on Saturday at UFC 179. He is deserving of arrangement in the high end of pound-for-pound rankings. The Brazilian completely rates headlining pay-per-views as well as the number of featherweight scalps he is amassed in his reign within the office is, quite literally, without equal. His reflexive decision making abilities are arguably the greatest in the sport. On occasion, he is capable of revered and dreadful offense.

Trainer Gilbert Melendez not satisfied with TUF 20 seeding format

LOS ANGELES – Like every great trainer, Gilbert Melendez did his job heading to The Ultimate Fighter 20. The prior Strikeforce lightweight champ scouted ability and made mental notes on which combatants he favored to decide when it came time for him and matching trainer Anthony Pettis to draft their teams.

But Melendez was hit using a curveball he was not anticipating. UFC matchmakers added a wrinkle to the show’s structure and pre-seeded the girls’s strawweight opponents from one through 16. If one trainer decided the No. 1 combatant, the other trainer was given No. 16; if one required No. 2, the other got No. 15, and so on.
